What you need
- An NFC chip or card that supports the NDEF standard (for example NTAG213 or NTAG215, very common in PVC cards and stickers).
- A free NFC writing app on your phone to write the link.
- Each person's NFC link, which you copy from their profile in the NexoCard dashboard.
How to write an NFC card
- In the dashboard, open the person's profile and copy their “For NFC chip” link.
- Open your NFC writing app, create a link (URL) record and paste the address.
- Hold the phone against the card or chip to write it. If the app allows it, lock the chip so nobody can overwrite it.
- Test it: tapping another phone should open the digital card.
QR code and NFC on the same card
The most practical option is to combine both: the printed QR code works with any phone with a camera, and the NFC chip is faster on phones that read it. NexoCard's PVC templates (CR80 format) are designed for card printers, and the QR code can go on the front or the back, as you prefer.
Measure each channel separately
NFC visits are recorded separately from QR code scans and shared links, so you know which format your team uses most and at which events it works best.
Frequently asked questions
Do all phones read NFC?
Most Android phones with NFC turned on, and iPhones from the XS onwards, read NFC tags without opening any app. That's why it's worth also printing the QR code.
Does NexoCard sell NFC cards?
No. NexoCard gives you the links and the design files; you can buy NFC chips or PVC cards from any supplier and print them wherever you like.
If the person's phone number changes, do I need to rewrite the chip?
No. The chip stores the link to the digital card, and the details are updated from the dashboard.
